Summer Learning Camp

The FSD 2026 Summer Learning Camp serves students in rising grades K – 8 from June 1 – 25 at Poplar Grove School, 1030 Excellence Way. This free camp is funded through the Tennessee Learning Loss Remediation and Student Acceleration Act to provide additional learning opportunities that are essential to accelerate students’ educational growth and ensure that all Tennessee children have the opportunity to reach their goals and dreams.

Summer Learning Camp is open only to current FSD students. SLC registration is handled through your child's school. Please contact your child's teacher or principal for information about registering your child. If your child is a candidate for SLC, you will receive a registration link in the spring.

Camp details include:

Hours are 8:20 a.m.-3:30 p.m. for rising grades K-8.
There will be seven hours of daily programming for rising grades K-8.
Daily programming includes four hours of reading and math instruction, one hour of intervention, and one hour of physical activity or play.
Instruction will be provided in a casual and fun format by a licensed and endorsed teacher. Middle school students assigned to "summer school" will attend SLC.
Breakfast, lunch, and snacks will be provided.
FSD will provide bus transportation for students.
If a rising 1st-8th grade student attends Summer Learning Camp, he/she has the option to be transported to and from the Summer MAC site at Johnson Elementary (MAC enrollment fees will apply). Rising kindergartners are not eligible for Summer MAC.

In accordance with Tennessee Learning Loss Remediation and Student Acceleration Act, students who need additional support to prepare them for the next school year will be given priority; however, the camp may also be available for current FSD students as space allows.

Welcome Letter and Reminders

Hello Summer Learning Camp 2026 Families!

We are so excited to work with your child at the FSD Summer Learning Camp (SLC), the FSD’s free summer program designed to prepare students for success in the next grade level. Please note the following important information and camp procedures as we prepare to greet all of our SLC campers on Monday, June 2nd.

SLC will be held Mondays-Thursdays at Poplar Grove Elementary and Middle Schools, 1030 Excellence Way, from Monday, June 1st until Thursday, June 25th from 8:20 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. There will be no classes on Fridays. Breakfast and lunch will be provided each day free of charge. Students will have an hour of indoor/outdoor recess each day, so we encourage them to wear school-appropriate clothing and comfortable shoes. You may drop off your enrolled child/children at the front of the PGES entrance no earlier than 8:00 a.m. and pick them up at the same location promptly at 3:30 p.m.

At the end of May, your child’s SLC teacher will contact you with some specific class information. Our SLC parent liaison will be available if you need an interpreter or translator for your questions.

For families who choose to use the free bus transportation to and from camp, please see the bus stops and times in the tab below. Choose the bus stop location closest to your home. Note that all times are approximate and your child should be waiting for the bus five to ten minutes before the scheduled stop. Your child may have a different bus, driver, stop location, and/or stop time than they did during the school year. Bus and Car Rider Information

Car Riders

You may drop off your enrolled child/children at the front of the PGES entrance no earlier than 8:00 a.m. and pick them up at the same location promptly at 3:30 p.m.

Bus Riders

For families who choose to use the free bus transportation to and from camp, bus stops and times will be posted in May. Choose the bus stop location closest to your home. Note that all times are approximate and your child should be waiting for the bus five to ten minutes before the scheduled stop. Your child may have a different bus, driver, stop location, and/or stop time than he/she did during the school year.

If you would like to track your child’s bus using our mobile app, BusRight.

Please note that a parent, older sibling, or another responsible adult must be at the bus stop in the afternoon to receive students in lower grades. If either the child or the bus driver is uncomfortable with the situation, the bus driver reserves the right to return the student to the SLC.
