2023 Classified Employee of the Year Jackie Morton receives a certificate from the Director of Schools Dr. David Snowden.

The Franklin Special School District is proud to recognize its outstanding employees. The Tennessee Department of Education sponsors a Teacher of the Year program and the FSSD submits an elementary and middle school teacher to represent the district in that contest.

However, the district also recognizes its classified (support) personnel as well through a Classified Employee of the Year (CEOY) Contest.  This program highlights the contributions of classified school employees to support education in the FSSD. The overall purpose of the CEOY program is to pay tribute to the tireless efforts of our district’s outstanding classified school employees. Classified employees are vital staff members who play key roles in creating a school environment that promotes student achievement, safety, and health.

Ten finalists are chosen for the FSSD Classified Employee of the Year. One award winner will be chosen from each of the following classified staff categories:

  • Central Office and CO Annex, including WeeMAC and Technology
  • Maintenance, Landscaping, and Transportation
  • School sites, including paraprofessionals, food and culinary services employees, custodians, nurses, MAC, and office staff

The CEOY finalists are honored annually in May at the Board of Education meeting.
