FSD Out of Zone School Request Process

Per state law, school districts must identify each school with space available to serve additional students and post those vacancies on the district's website two weeks before accepting applications. Applicants must be Franklin Special District residents and, if approved, must provide transportation to and from school. To request that a student attend a school outside their zoned school, families must complete the out-of-zone waiver application online. (FSD School Board Policy 6.206)  You will find information on open seats, as well as the procedures for requesting an out-of-zone waiver, on our website at https://www.fssd.org/registration under the Out-of-Zone Waiver Requests tab. FSD’s open seats are available to view online February 1 – 16. Out-of-zone application requests will be accepted February 16 – March 19, 2026.
