The Franklin Special District (FSD) is excited to announce the appointment of Sonya Roberts, M.Ed., as its new Human Resources Supervisor. With extensive experience in strategic human resources leadership, Roberts brings a diverse skill set and a proven track record from her previous roles.
Franklin Special District (FSD) has received a Healthy Meals Incentives Recognition Award for improving the nutritional quality of school meals. Awarded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) in collaboration with Action for Healthy Kids (AFHK), FSD received the Breakfast Trailblazer Award for redesigning breakfast offerings to decrease sugar and sodium.
Franklin Special faculty and staff convened today for a fantastic Opening Day celebration, filled with warm welcomes, a motivational keynote speaker, and our annual musical production, featuring school and district leaders, as well as some pretty cute and talented students from each school!
The Franklin Special District upgraded its school-to-home communication platform to ParentSquare, a simple-to-use communication hub that offers families many ways to receive information from the district and their children’s schools—all in one place.
The FSD is proud that its students continue a long history of high performance on the state TCAP test. In fact, the composite score of all four subjects – English language arts, math, science, and social studies – lands the FSSD in the top 10% of all public school districts in Tennessee.
After two years of planning, the FSD is proud to offer 8th-grade students at both Poplar Grove Middle and Freedom Middle School the opportunity to take Introduction to Aerospace for high school credit next year!
In May 2024, the Board of Education adopted a five-year strategic plan. Aspire 2029 is a strategic plan that encompasses a quest of more than 12 months to determine the road map for the district’s next five years. As we endeavor to build the future of education in Franklin and beyond, great care has been taken to request and listen deeply to input from employees, board members, families, students, and community members.
