Young Scholars Institute A Summer Enrichment Program The Young Scholars Institute, sponsored by the FSSD, offers challenging, exploratory classes which are designed for independent and highly motivated learners. The courses are academically and artistically challenging. YSI is designed for the mature, independent student who is ready to change classes. YSI is proud to provide this opportunity to the students of our community. YSI is located at two separate sites. Liberty Elementary hosts the Junior Scholars program, which serves students who have completed 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grades (ages 7-10). Senior Scholars serves students who have completed the 5th grade and above (ages 11-14), and is held at Poplar Grove. The 2010 Institute is scheduled for June 7-11 and June 14-18, 2010. Young Scholars is divided into two sessions during the summer Junior Scholars runs from 8:30 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. and Senior Scholars runs from 8:15 a.m. until 2:45 p.m. Bus service is provided from Senior Scholars to Junior Scholars for more convenient pick-up if you have children in both programs. The Morning and Afternoon Care program is also available for FSSD students both before and after YSI classes. Students may attend one or both weeks. Parents and students are welcome to browse the 2010 course descriptions in preparation for a fun-filled summer camp program: NOTE: Due to high enrollment, Week 1 (June 7-11) of Junior Scholars is closed.
