School Hours: 7:20 a.m.-2:20 p.m.

As we head into the unpredictable weather of winter, we would like to remind FSSD families of the various ways to track school closings. Any time school is closed for inclement weather or hazardous road conditions, families will be contacted by phone and email using the district’s emergency notification system (Blackboard Connect). The phone number that you recorded as the primary number on your child’s registration form will be the number called. Also, in order to receive the email notification, your email address must be in the school’s database. Now is a good time to make sure that school offices are aware of any phone or email changes that may have taken place since the beginning of school.

Social Media
In addition, as soon as it is known, closing information will be communicated on the district web site ( and on the FSSD Twitter account (@franklinspecial).

Local Media
While the Blackboard Connect system is the FSSD’s primary communication tool, the local media will also broadcast closing information. Please note that the local media will sometimes broadcast the FSSD as Franklin City Schools or Franklin Special Schools. Additionally, since our geographic region is much smaller than that of Williamson County Schools, we will not always close when the county schools close.

When schools are closed due to inclement weather, events are automatically cancelled at all schools. The availability of MAC, including hours of operation, will be announced at the time of all school closings. Snow MAC is held at the District Site, located at 1406 Cannon Street.
